Elizabethtown College Senior Matt Seiboth Named the MASCAC Scholar-Athlete for Men’s Lacrosse

Matt Seiboth '06.ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior midfielder Matt Seiboth (Havertown, PA/Haverford) has been named the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation (MASCAC) Scholar-Athlete for men’s lacrosse in the 2005-06 academic year. The MASCAC comprises the 16 colleges and universities that are members of the Middle Atlantic Conference, the Commonwealth Conference and/or the Freedom Conference. One Scholar-Athlete, who must be a senior with a minimum grade-point average of 3.2 to be considered for the award, is selected by the MASCAC for each sport per year on the basis of academic and athletic accomplishments.

Seiboth currently leads Elizabethtown in assists with 19, and he is second on the team in points with 32 and third on the team in goals scored with 13. He also has 31 ground balls in 2006. His 19 assists this season is the fourth-highest single-season total in Etown history. In his career, Seiboth ranks sixth all-time at Elizabethtown in ground balls (127), third in points (116), second in assists (67) and fourth in goals (49). He was named the Blue Jays’ first-year student MVP in 2003.

Academically, Seiboth has been a member of the MASCAC All-Academic Team every spring season since his sophomore year. He is also an Elizabethtown College Dean’s List member and a Provost Scholar. He is majoring in business administration and management at Elizabethtown College.

The Elizabethtown College men’s lacrosse team is currently 7-9 overall and will return to action on the road against Widener University in the semifinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4. Etown, which has won its last five games in a row, most recently defeated Susquehanna University 13-4 at home Monday in the quarterfinals of the MAC playoffs.
