Elizabethtown College Junior Outfielder Kelli Thon Named to All-Commonwealth Conference First Team in Softball

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College junior center fielder Kelli Thon (Victor, NY/Victor Central) has been named to the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team for the 2006 season. It is the second time in her career that she has been named to the all-conference first team, and it is the third year in a row she has received all-conference honors.

This season, Thon started all 33 of Elizabethtown’s games and led the Blue Jays in batting average (.420), hits (47), at-bats (112), runs scored (14), on-base percentage (.435), slugging percentage (.420) and stolen bases (16). She also drove in seven runs and struck out only four times in 112 at-bats, and she committed just one error all season for a .981 fielding percentage. Her total of 47 hits this season was the third-highest in Elizabethtown history, and her 16 steals marked the sixth-highest Etown single-season total.

Through three seasons, Thon has a career batting average of .434 through 88 games, the highest career average in the history of the program. She ranks third all-time at Elizabethtown in career hits with 132 and fifth in career stolen bases with 36. As a sophomore in 2005, she had a .519 batting average, the highest in Etown history since the Blue Jays’ inaugural eight-game season of 1979. Thon was named to the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team in 2005, and she was an All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team honoree as a first-year student in 2004. She also recently earned a place on the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association (NFCA) All-East Region First Team for the first time in her career for the 2006 season.

The Elizabethtown College softball team completed the 2006 season with an 8-25 overall record and a 2-12 mark in the Commonwealth Conference.
