Elizabethtown College Field Hockey Team Ranked 13th in Nation

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College field hockey team has moved up two places in the national rankings to 13th, according to the latest NCAA Division III national poll released today by the National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association (NFHCA).

The College of New Jersey (7-0) is ranked first in this week’s poll. Four of the eight teams in the Commonwealth Conference are nationally ranked. In addition to Elizabethtown, Commonwealth member Messiah College (8-1) is ranked second in the nation, dropping out of the top spot after falling to Etown 2-1 in overtime last week. Conference rival Lebanon Valley College (7-1) is ranked 12th in the nation, and Commonwealth member Juniata College (9-0) is ranked 14th in the nation.

Elizabethtown is currently 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the Commonwealth Conference. The Blue Jays went 2-0 last week, defeating Messiah 2-1 in overtime Wednesday and Widener University 2-1 Saturday. Elizabethtown return’s to action on the road in a non-conference game Wednesday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m. against King’s College (Pa.), which is currently ranked 17th in the nation.
