Twelve Elizabethtown College Field Hockey Players Earn Places on NFHCA National Academic Squad; Blue Jays Receive NFHCA National Academic Team Award

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Twelve members of the 2006 Elizabethtown College field hockey team have earned spots on the National Field Hockey Coaches’ Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad by posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher. Additionally, the Elizabethtown field hockey team as a whole has received the NFHCA’s National Academic Team Award by posting at team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2006-07 academic year.

The Elizabethtown players who received spots on the National Academic Squad include sophomore forward Megan Angstadt (Oley, PA/Oley Valley), first-year defender Liz Appleman (Turbotville, PA/Warrior Run), senior forward Val Bawell (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot), first-year forward Katy Boone (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg), first-year defender Kelsey Brown (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central), senior forward Whitney Brown (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central), first-year defender Lauren deDufour (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central), sophomore midfielder Alison Duval (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), sophomore forward Andrea Miles (Phoenix, MD/Notre Dame Prep.), junior midfielder Hannah Moody (Lewisberry, PA/Northern), senior forward Jen Pechart (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) and sophomore forward Karyn Snyder (Poolesville, MD/Poolesville).

The Elizabethtown College field hockey team finished the 2006 season with a 16-6 overall record and a 5-2 mark in the Commonwealth Conference. The Blue Jays reached the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament, making their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1988 and earning its first NCAA tournament win since 1987.
