Five Elizabethtown College Men’s Lacrosse Players on All-Middle Atlantic Conference Teams; Frankie Puzzangara Repeats as MAC Player of the Year 

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Five Elizabethtown College men’s lacrosse players have earned spots on the All-Middle Atlantic Conference teams for 2007. Senior midfielder Frankie Puzzangara (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven), senior defender Frank Cacia (Newark, DE/Tatnall School) and junior long-stick midfielder Gary Senese (Leonardtown, MD/Tatnall School, DE) have been named to the All-MAC First Team. Junior defender Eric Peifer (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) and first-year attacker Aaron Weber (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) have each earned places on the All-MAC Second Team. Additionally, Puzzangara has been named the MAC Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

Thus far this season, Puzzangara is leading Elizabethtown in goals scored with 37, in ground balls with 125, and in face-offs won with 101 out of 152 tries. He is also second on the team in points with 47 and third on the team in assists with 10. In his last game against DeSales, he tied the Elizabethtown College season ground ball record he set last year at 125. Puzzangara is Elizabethtown’s career record holder in goals scored (127), ground balls (321), points (165) and shots (526). He is a four-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference honoree, and he was the 2006 MAC Player of the Year as well. He was also named an Inside Lacrosse Pre-Season All-American for the 2007 season.

Cacia has started every game in the backfield in 2007, and he is currently sixth on the team in ground balls with 42. He is a three-time All-MAC team member in his career, having earned spots on the Second Team in 2006 and in 2004 before moving up to the First Team this year. In four years, he has compiled 176 ground balls and two assists for two points.

This is Senese’s first time on the All-MAC First Team, having also received Second Team honors as a sophomore last year. He has played in all 14 games for Elizabethtown in 2007, and he ranks third on the team in ground balls with 56. He also has three goals and one assist for four points this year. In his career, he has tallied 162 ground balls, eight goals, four assists and 12 points.

Peifer has been named to the All-MAC Second Team for the first time in his two-year career in 2007. He is currently second among the Blue Jays in ground balls with 66, and he has one assist and one point in 14 games played. In his career, he has 135 ground balls, two goals, three assists and five points.

Weber joins the All-MAC Second Team as a rookie in 2007. He currently leads Elizabethtown in assists with 33 and in points with 68, and he ranks second on the team in goals scored with 35. He also currently ranks fourth on the team in ground balls with 52.

The Elizabethtown College men’s lacrosse team is currently 10-4 overall, and the Blue Jays went 7-3 in the MAC during the regular season to capture the number two seed in the 2007 MAC playoffs, the Blue Jays’ highest seeding in their six-year history. Elizabethtown will host third-seeded defending conference champion Widener University Thursday, May 3 at 4:00 p.m. in the MAC semifinals. Admission for the game is free.
