Six Elizabethtown College Women’s Lacrosse Players on All-Middle Atlantic Conference Teams; Katie Foley MAC Player of the Year, Katie Caprinolo MAC Rookie of the Year, Mike Faith MAC Coach of the Year  

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Six Elizabethtown College women’s lacrosse players have earned spots on the All-Middle Atlantic Conference teams for 2007. Sophomore attacker Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross), sophomore defender Dana Simmons (Flourtown, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and sophomore goaltender Jenn Hawkins (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) have all been named to the All-MAC First Team. First-year attacker Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson), first-year midfielder Katie Caprinolo (Jarrettsville, MD/North Harford) and first-year midfielder Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) have earned places on the All-MAC Second Team. Additionally, Foley has been named the MAC Player of the Year for 2007, Caprinolo has been named the MAC Rookie of the Year, and Elizabethtown head coach Mike Faith has been named the MAC Coach of the Year for the first time in his three-year career.

This is Foley’s first time on the All-MAC First Team and first time as the Player of the Year. She was an All-MAC Second Team member as a rookie in 2006. So far in 2007, she leads Elizabethtown in goals with 66 and in points with 91, and she has set single-season program records in each category. She also leads Elizabethtown in draw controls with 38, is second on the team in assists with 25, ranks third on the team in ground balls with 28, and is third on the team in caused turnovers with 20. In her career, she has 106 goals, 39 assists, 145 points, 68 ground balls, 61 draw controls and 35 caused turnovers.

Simmons has earned a place on the All-MAC teams for the first time in her career in 2007. From the backfield, she has compiled 14 goals, two draw controls and 11 caused turnovers this season in 14 games played. In her two-year career, she has one goal, one point, 24 ground balls, four draw controls and 14 caused turnovers.

Hawkins is also on the All-MAC teams for the first time in her career. She has started all 16 of Elizabethtown’s games in 2007 in the net, and she currently has 175 saves, a 9.76 goals against average and a .552 save percentage in over 873 minutes of work. She has also totaled 26 ground balls and three caused turnovers in 2007. In her two-year career, she has 357 saves, a 10.14 career goals against average, 62 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.

Caprinolo, the 2007 MAC Rookie of the Year, has made the All-MAC teams for the first time in her career. So far this year, she has 42 goals, seven assists and 49 points. She also has 15 ground balls, 20 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers. She ranks second on the team in goals and third in points.

Byrnes, making the All-MAC Second Team as a rookie in 2007, currently ranks third on the Blue Jays in goals with 41, third in assists with 17 and second in points with 58. She also has 17 ground balls, 34 draw controls to rank second on the team, and four caused turnovers this season.

Kreis, also an All-MAC Second Team member as a rookie this year, leads Elizabethtown in ground balls with 35 and in caused turnovers with 24. She also has 28 goals to rank fourth on the team, four assists, 32 points and 23 draw controls in 2007.

The Elizabethtown College women’s lacrosse team is currently 13-3 overall, the best record in the team’s six-year history, and the Blue Jays went 10-0 in the MAC during the regular season to capture the top seed in the 2007 MAC playoffs for the first time ever. Elizabethtown will host fourth-seeded FDU-Florham Thursday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. in the MAC semifinals. Admission for the game is free.
