FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Preview of the 2007 Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 3-5 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College will host the Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the first time in its history from Thursday, May 3 through Saturday, May 5, 2007. The Middle Atlantic Conference’s ten men’s and ten women’s track & field programs will be competing for the last time under the format that existed since 1994. After this year, Susquehanna University, Moravian College and Juniata College will be leaving the MAC for the newly-formed Landmark Conference. On the women’s side, Moravian will look to bow out with one last MAC title after a surprising fourth place finish last year. Prior to last year, the Greyhounds had won every MAC outdoor title since 1993. Looking to stop that from happening will be the other nine MAC teams, among them the three that finished ahead of Moravian in 2006, defending conference champion Messiah College, second place finisher Elizabethtown, and third place finisher Susquehanna. Going event-by event on the women’s side, the heptathlon, which begins competition at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, returns two medalists from 2006, defending MAC champion Amy Reed of Messiah and silver medalist Robin O’Hara of Susquehanna. In Thursday’s other event, the 10,000m run, no medalists from 2006 return to the event. Leading the field is Elizabethtown’s Erin Fisher, who posted the conference’s top seed time of 36:43.41 this season, followed by Sarah Clemmer and Jennifer Kooser of Messiah, who ran the race in 38:54.34 and 39:04.21 this year.
