Elizabethtown’s Katie Foley Named to IWLCA All-Metro Region First Team in Women’s Lacrosse

Katie Foley '09.ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College sophomore attacker Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross) has been named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association (IWLCA) All-Metro Region First Team for the 2007 season. She is the first Elizabethtown player ever to receive the honor.

Foley wrapped up a breakthrough season in 2007 with Elizabethtown season-record totals of 69 goals and 94 points, and she was second on the team in assists with 25. She also led the Blue Jays in draw controls with 40, and she was tied for third on the team in ground balls with 29 and was third on the team in caused turnovers with 21. She was named the Middle Atlantic Conference’s Most Valuable Player as a sophomore, and she earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team as well.

As a first-year student in 2006, Foley totaled 40 goals, 14 assists, 54 points, 40 ground balls, 23 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers, and she was named to the All-MAC Second Team. In her two-year career, she has tallied 109 goals, 39 assists, 148 points, 69 ground balls, 63 draw controls and 36 caused turnovers. In two seasons, she already ranks in a tie for second place at Elizabethtown in career goals scored.

The Elizabethtown College women’s lacrosse team had the best season in its six-year history in 2007, as the Blue Jays went 13-4 overall and 10-0 in the MAC during the regular season. The team reached the semifinal round of the MAC playoffs for the first time and hosted a playoff game for the first time in 2007.
