Elizabethtown’s Jared Auman and Tyler Hoffman Named to ABCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team in Baseball 

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown Collegejunior catcher Jared Auman (Northumberland, PA/Shikellamy) and senior pitcher Tyler Hoffman (Phoenix, MD/Loyola Blakefield) have been named to the American Baseball Coaches’ Association (ABCA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team for the 2007 season.

Jared Auman '08.Auman has earned a spot on the all-region teams for the first time in his career this year after leading the Blue Jays with a .404 batting average, 61 hits, 11 doubles, two triples, one home run and 28 RBI in 2007. He also scored 22 runs, drew 18 walks and had three sacrifice flies in 2007 while leading the team in both slugging percentage (.523) and on-base percentage (.466). Auman was also named the Commonwealth Conference’s Co-Player of the Year in 2007, and he was an All-Commonwealth Conference First Team member for the first time in his career this year.

In his three-year career with Elizabethtown, Auman is batting .360 with 99 hits, 43 runs scored, 23 doubles, four triples, two home runs and 52 RBI. He also has 30 career walks and three stolen bases, with a career slugging percentage of .495 and an on-base percentage of .426.

Tyler Hoffman '07.Hoffman has now earned a place on the ABCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team for the second year in a row. He was also an all-region honoree in 2006. In 2007, Hoffman was also named to the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team, and he was the conference’s Pitcher of the Year. He was an All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team honoree in 2006, and he was the Most Valuable Player of the Commonwealth Conference playoffs for two consecutive years in 2006 and in 2007. In the 2007 season, Hoffman made 12 starts and one relief appearance on the mound, and he led the Blue Jays in earned run average with 2.54, starts, innings pitched with 85, and complete games with five. He posted a 7-2 win-loss record this year with one shutout, 37 runs allowed, 24 earned runs, 21 walks and 42 strikeouts.

In his four-year career, Hoffman totaled a 17-9 win-loss record and a 4.09 ERA. He appeared in 43 games and made 35 starts, and he had 11 complete games and two shutouts. He spread 132 runs, 103 earned runs, 61 walks and 112 strikeouts over 226-2/3 innings pitched. He ranks fifth all-time at Elizabethtown College in career innings pitched, seventh in appearances and eighth in victories.

The Elizabethtown College baseball team went 23-18 overall in 2007 and won the Commonwealth Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III regional tournament for the second year in a row. The Blue Jays had a 13-8 mark in the Commonwealth Conference during the regular season.
