Liz Hannegan Named Commonwealth Conference
Defender/Goalie of the Week in Field Hockey

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College sophomore goalkeeper Liz Hannegan (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey) has been honored by the Commonwealth Conference as the Defender/Goalie of the Week in field hockey for the week ending Sept. 2, the conference office announced Monday.

Hannegan helped the Blue Jays, who are tied for 15th in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Top 20 poll, to a pair of victories in the season-opening Mule Classic at Muhlenberg College.

She posted a shutout in her first career start as Elizabethtown defeated Misericordia University in their season opener on Friday, then made eight stops in a 3-2 double-overtime victory over host Muhlenberg on Saturday. Against Muhlenberg, Hannegan made six of her eight saves in overtime as the Mules outshot the Blue Jays 9-2 in the extra sessions.

The Blue Jays (2-0 overall) return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 5 when the squad makes its 2007 home debut against Franklin & Marshall College at 4:30 p.m. on Wolf Field.
