George Severini Named Commonwealth Conference
Player of the Week in Men's Soccer

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior forward George Severini (Havertown, PA/Haverford) has been honored by the Commonwealth Conference as the Player of the Week in men's soccer for the week ending Sept. 2, the conference office announced Monday.

Severini scored three goals in two matches as the Blue Jays split a pair of matches at the season-opening Stevens Institute of Technology Classic in Hoboken, N.J. over the weekend.

In a season-opening 2-1 loss to nationally-ranked New York University on Saturday, Severini netted the first goal of the match at the 26-minute mark to give Etown a 1-0 lead. He followed with a two-goal effort in a 3-0 victory over Skidmore College on Sunday, tallying both goals in the first 21 minutes.

Elizabethtown (1-1-0 overall) kicks off its 2007 home schedule on Friday, Sept. 7 by hosting the 25th annual JAKO/Brothers Pizza Blue Jay Classic. The Blue Jays will battle St. Vincent College at 7:00 p.m. following a match between Franklin & Marshall College and Hampden-Sydney College at 5:00 p.m.
