Kelly Downs Repeats as Commonwealth Conference Volleyball Player of the Week

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- For the second consecutive week, Elizabethtown College senior Kelly Downs (Airville, PA/Red Lion) has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in women's volleyball, the conference office announced Monday.

Downs recorded 59 kills in five matches for the Blue Jays, who compiled a 3-2 record during the week. She posted 21 kills and eight blocks in a five-game Commonwealth Conference victory over Messiah College on Wednesday, then tallied 38 kills in four matches to lead the Blue Jays to a third-place finish at the Tufts Invitational over the weekend and earn a spot on the All-Tournament team.

For the week, Downs hit .356 and added 21 blocks, 18 digs and 10 service aces. For the season, she leads the team with 245 kills, 90 blocks and a .399 hitting percentage while adding 25 aces and 44 digs.

The Blue Jays (15-4 overall) travel to defending NCAA Division III champion Juniata College on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. match.
