Jamie Alvanitakis Named Commonwealth Conference Defender of the Week in Women's Soccer

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior Jamie Alvanitakis (Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove) has been named the Commonwealth Conference Defender of the Week in women's soccer for the week ending Oct. 20, the conference office announced Monday.

Alvanitakis was a key part of a Blue Jay defense that posted a pair of 1-0 Commonwealth Conference victories last week over Lycoming and Widener while allowing a total of two shots in 180 minutes of action.

With the wins, the Blue Jays have tied a program record with 10 straight victories, extended the program record for consecutive games without a loss to 16, and recorded 14 shutouts on the year to move within one of the school record.

Alvanitakis has joined fellow starting defenders Emily Gunter, Carly Hoskins and Gretchen Geiger and starting goalkeeper Angela Freeland as Defender of the Week honorees this season.

The Blue Jays (15-1-1 overall, 3-0-0 Commonwealth) host Albright College on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.
