FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Elizabethtown to Host Widener in Commonwealth Conference Women's Soccer Semifinal Match ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team will host Widener University in the Commonwealth Conference semifinalson Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 6:00 p.m. at Ira R. Herr Field. The Blue Jays (16-2-1 overall, 4-1-0 Commonwealth) are the second seed in the four-team tournament, while the visiting Pride (14-4-1 overall, 3-2-0 Commonwealth) are the third seed. The winner of Tuesday's match will play on Saturday against the winner of the other semifinal between top-seeded Messiah College and Lebanon Valley College for the conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. Admission to the match is $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors and $2.00 for students while children under age 6 are admitted free. Elizabethtown defeated Widener 1-0 in the teams' regular-season meeting in Elizabethtown on Oct. 20 on a second-half goal by sophomore Erin Scott. The teams also met in last year's Commonwealth Conference semifinals, with the Blue Jays earning a 2-0 win behind a pair of goals by Jenna Russo en route to the conference championship. The Blue Jays, who set program records with an 11-game winning streak and 17-game unbeaten streak during the regular season, are led by Russo and fellow junior Brooke Dotterer who have scored nine goals apiece this season, along with senior Jenny Fromuth who has netted six goals. The Elizabethtown defense has been stingy all season, allowing just five goals in the first 18 matches including 15 shutouts. Junior Angela Freeland is 10-1-1 with a 0.62 goals against average and eight shutouts in 14 starts this year. Widener is led by Sam Baer, who has scored 15 goals and dished out 12 assists this season. Baer, who has scored eight game-winning goals, did not play against the Blue Jays in their regular-season meeting due to injury. Melanie Miller (nine goals), Caryinna Yenchak (eight goals) and Sam Hand (seven goals) also led a potent Pride attack that accumulated 61 goals in 19 matches. Alee Gunter has started all 19 matches in goal for Widener and has compiled a 0.60 goals against average and .833 save percentage.
