Elizabethtown Places Three on All-Commonwealth Conference Field Hockey Team

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College field hockey team has placed three players on the All-Commonwealth Conference team, as voted upon by the league's five head coaches and released Wednesday.

Sophomore defender Caitlin Smith (Haddonfield, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) was a first-team selection while junior forward Megan Angstadt (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) and sophomore forward Brenna Noon (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) were selected to the second team.

The trio led the Blue Jays to an 11-7 overall record and third place in the Commonwealth Conference with a 2-2 mark under fourth-year head coach Sharon Sweger entering Wednesday's conference playoff game at Messiah College.

Smith started all 18 games on defense and recorded one goal and one assist for three points. She helped the Blue Jays to a team goals against average of 1.55 and six shutouts during the season.

Angstadt, a three-year starter and second-team All-Conference selection last season, led the Blue Jays with career highs of 10 goals and 10 assists for 30 points in 18 games. She scored five goals and added two assists in four conference matches, and among her four two-goal games was an overtime goal in a 3-2 win at Swarthmore College on Sept. 20.

In 58 career matches, Angstadt has scored 20 goals and dished out 18 assists for a total of 58 points, while scoring six game-winning goals.

Noon, a two-year starter, finished the regular season with nine goals and two assists for 20 points. She scored an overtime goal in the Blue Jays' 2-1 win at Widener University on Oct. 13 and tallied a hat trick in a 4-1 win at Vassar College on Sept. 29.

In 40 career matches, Noon has 14 goals and six assists for a total of 34 points, while scoring four game-winning goals.
