Walton, Montague Earn All-Commonwealth Conference Honors in Women's Basketball

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Two members of the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team have earned All-Commonwealth Conference honors as voted upon by the league's six head coaches and released Thursday.

Senior guard Erin Walton (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County) was a first-team selection while junior forward Jenn Montague (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) was a second-team pick after leading the Blue Jays to an 11-14 overall record during the 2007-08 season.

Walton was a repeat first-team selection after ranking second in the Commonwealth Conference in scoring average at 16.4 points per game. She scored in double figures 21 times in 25 games, including 10 games of 20 points or more, and is fourth in the conference in free-throw percentage at 80.8 percent (80-for-99).

She finished her four-year career ranked second in program history with 1,702 points in 97 games (17.5 points per game), while averaging 4.7 rebounds per contest. Walton was a three-time All-Conference selection and was a third-team Academic All-District pick this season.

Montague averaged 9.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in 21 overall games, but boosted her numbers to 11.6 points and 6.5 boards in 10 conference contests. She scored in double figures in nine of the Blue Jays' last 10 games, including a career-high 19 points against Widener University on Feb. 5.

She ranks seventh in the Commonwealth Conference in rebounding and is fourth in field-goal percentage at 50 percent (71-for-142). In three seasons, Montague has averaged 5.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in 69 career games.

Senior guard Nikki Lobach of Messiah College was named Player of the Year for the second straight season, and along with Walton was joined on the first team by first-year guard Lori Lidlow of Lebanon Valley College, junior forward Silalei Shani of Messiah, junior guard Andrea Cooper of Lycoming College and junior guard Annie McMahon of Albright College.

Also on the second team with Montague were senior guard Amy Reed of Messiaha, sophomore guard Becky Tyler of Widener, and senior forward Jacqueline Hardwick and first-year guard Jessica McGinness of Albright.

Lidlow and McGinness shared the Rookie of the Year honors while the Coach of the Year award went to Mike Miller of Messiah.
