FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Jeff Kirkhoff Named Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in Men's Tennis ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College junior Jeff Kirkhoff (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita) has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in men's tennis for the week ending March 30, the conference office announced Monday. Kirkhoff went 2-1 in singles and 3-0 in doubles as the Blue Jays posted two wins in three matches last week, including a 5-4 win over Lebanon Valley College in the conference opener on Saturday. In that contest, Kirkhoff defeated the Dutchmen's Tom Neckelmann 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the final singles match to clinch the win for the Blue Jays. He also teamed with senior Andrew Voshell for an 8-6 win in doubles. Kirkhoff, the number-two singles player for the Blue Jays, also posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Mark Allinson of Villa Julie College in an 8-1 victory on Tuesday, and joined with Voshell at the top spot in the doubles lineup for two other victories on the week. For the season, Kirkhoff has a 3-3 record in singles and a 4-2 mark in doubles in match play for the Blue Jays (3-3 overall, 1-0 Commonwealth), who travel to Lycoming College on Wednesday. |
