Three Blue Jays Named All-Conference in Men's Tennis

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Three members of the Elizabethtown College men's tennis team have been named All-Commonwealth Conference, as voted upon by the league's head coaches and released Wednesday.

Sophomore Brok Walker (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) and junior Jeff Kirkhoff (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita) were named to the first team, while first-year student Bryan Metz (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) was a second-team selection.

Walker, a second-team All-Conference honoree last season, has played first singles all season for the Blue Jays and compiled an 11-9 overall record, including an 8-6 mark in dual matches. In two seasons, Walker has an overall record of 29-16.

Kirkhoff has been the number-two player in the lineup for the Blue Jays, and is 7-8 overall on the season and 7-6 in dual matches. He also played at the top doubles spot in the lineup with senior Andrew Voshell and posted a 7-6 record.

Metz stepped into the lineup at fourth singles and posted an 8-12 overall record, including a 7-7 dual-match mark. He has teamed with Walker at second doubles to fashion an 11-7 overall record and a 10-3 mark in dual matches.

Messiah College, which won its third straight Commonwealth Conference team championship, swept the major awards as Nathan Ipsen was Player of the Year, Jansen Hein was Rookie of the Year and Frank Petre was Coach of the Year.

The Blue Jays (8-7 overall) finish their regular season with a match at DeSales University on Thursday afternoon before heading to Wilkes-Barre for the MAC singles and doubles championships on Saturday and Sunday.
