FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Three Blue Jays Named Second-Team All-Region in Women's Lacrosse ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team has placed three players on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III All-Metro Region team, the IWLCA announced Thursday. Junior attack Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross), sophomore midfielder Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) and junior goalkeeper Jenn Hawkins (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) were each named second-team All-Metro Region after leading the Blue Jays to an 11-5 overall record (7-1 Middle Atlantic Conference) and a berth in the conference championship game. Foley, a first-team All-Region selection last season, set a single-season program record with 70 goals and added 19 assists for 89 points during the 2008 season, while also leading the team with 41 draw controls. She was named first-team All-MAC for the second straight season, and enters her senior season ranked second in program history with 179 goals and 237 points. Kreis, also a first-team All-MAC choice, finished third on the team with 38 goals and 45 points, and led the Blue Jays with 36 ground balls. She ranks fifth in program history with 67 career goals and is seventh in points with 78 after two seasons at Elizabethtown. Hawkins, a two-time first-team All-MAC selection, started all 16 games in goal and led the conference with a 9.15 goals against average and a .551 save percentage. She holds every Elizabethtown career goalkeeping record, including saves (523), save percentage (.533), goals against average (9.84), minutes played (2,791) and victories (30). |
