ELIZABETHTOWN Elizabethtown's Mandi Ewing (McClure, PA/West Snyder), a senior midfielder, was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week in field hockey for the week ending October 15.
Ewing scored the game-winner on a penalty stroke in a 1-0 overtime victory against Juniata Saturday, October 14. In a 3-0 win against eighth-ranked York College Tuesday, October 10, Ewing scored a pair of goals. Ewing also assisted Elizabethtown's only goal in a 5-1 loss to seventh-ranked in Division II Shippensburg Thursday, October 12. For the week, she compiled three goals and one assist in three games.
Ewing currently leads the Blue Jays in scoring with 31 points in 10 goals and 11 assists. She holds a career total of 42 goals, placing her ninth among the Elizabethtown College field hockey program's most prolific goal scorers. Ewing's 11 season assists and career total of 25 places her third in program history for both categories. Her career point total of 109 places her ninth in program history.
The Elizabethtown field hockey team is currently 13-3-0 overall and 4-2 in the Commonwealth Conference. The team is ranked 12th in the nation in NCAA Division III according to the latest NFHCA coaches' poll, released Tuesday.
