ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. Emily Morris (Canton, PA/Canton), a member of the 2000 Elizabethtown College volleyball team, has been named a Commonwealth Conference second team all-star in volleyball.
Morris, a freshman outside hitter, played in all 31 matches for the Blue Jays and contributed heavily to the Etown defense, racking up a total of 477 digs, the third-highest total in program history and the most ever by a freshman at Etown. She was a standout on the offensive side as well, leading the team in kills with 313. She also led the team in service aces with 32 and was second on the team with a .234 hitting percentage. In a match against Lebanon Valley October 27, Morris had 35 digs, the second-highest single match total in Elizabethtown history.
Morris is a 2000 graduate of Canton High School. Her inspired play was one of the elements of Elizabethtown's dramatic improvement from 1999 to 2000. The team finished 12-19 overall in 2000, tripling its win total from 1999.
