Bridgeton's Sheppard Selected to All-Region Baseball TeamELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Kiah Sheppard of Bridgeton, N.J., a member of the Elizabethtown College baseball team, has been selected as a member of the 1999 ABCA/Rawlings all-Mid-Atlantic Region baseball team. Sheppard, a junior catcher, was named to the all-region second team, the first time he has earned regional honors. He was also selected as a first-team Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth League all-star in 1999. He hit .358 in 38 games for the Blue Jays this season and was also among the team leaders in hits (39), runs (19), RBI (23), doubles (7) and slugging percentage (.422). He led the team with a .437 on-base percentage. The son of Ken and Joan Sheppard of Bridgeton, N.J., he is majoring in social studies education at Elizabethtown. He is a 1996 graduate of Cumberland Regional High School. The Elizabethtown baseball team posted a 27-11 overall record in 1999 and won its fourth MAC Commonwealth League title in six years with a 12-2 mark. The Blue Jays finished second in the MAC playoffs. |
