ETOWN'S VANVALKENBURGH NAMED MAC COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College's sophomore goaltender Kate VanValkenburgh (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending September 26.

VanValkenburgh allowed only one goal while making 21 saves in two games last week, for a save percentage of .955 and a goals against average of 0.50.

VanValkenburgh deflected 11 shots as Elizabethtown defeated Franklin and Marshall 1-0 September 21, despite being outshot 19-8 by F & M.  It was her third shutout of the season.

She also made 10 saves against Scranton, keeping Elizabethtown in the game.  The final score was only 1-0 in Scranton's favor, despite having outshot Elizabethtown 18-5.
