ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SOFTBALL 14-RUN INNING FOR ETOWN KEYS DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP OF JUNIATA; JAYS RUN WINNING STREAK TO SEVEN GAMES ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown scored 18 runs on 14 hits in the opener and got a commanding performance from pitcher Linda Milnes in game two to sweep Juniata, 18-7 and 9-1, in MAC Commonwealth League action on Tuesday. The Blue Jays (11-10, 6-2) won their sixth and seven straight contests and climbed above the .500-mark for the first time this season. Trailing 5-3 in the third inning of game one, Etown erupted for 14 runs on 10 hits to take command and cruise to the win. Kelly Spence and Kristy Nowell each went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored while Kristy Kordich added three hits and knocked in four runs. Nowell came on in relief of Angela Moyer in the third inning to pick up her second win of the season. In game two, Milnes went the distance, allowing a run on three hits while striking out six to pick up her third victory in as many decisions. Nowell, Spence and Vikki Detweiler each scored a pair of runs in the winning effort while teammate Lynn Fink rapped out a pair of hits and drove in a run. Kelli Sheesley went 4-for-5 on the day with two doubles and four RBI for Juniata (3-9, 2-8). Etown returns to action on Tuesday, April 14 with a doubleheader at home against Muhlenberg College. Game time is 3 p.m.
