MILNES TOSSES COMPLETE GAME GEM AS ETOWN FORGES CRUCIAL MAC COMMONWEALTH LEAGUE SPLIT WITH MORAVIAN

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Vikki Detweiler's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Missy Grey to give Elizabethtown (12-13, 7-3) a 2-1 win over Moravian and a split of their MAC Commonwealth League doubleheader on Wednesday. The Greyhounds (21-7, 7-3) captured game one, 3-1, behind the four-hit complete game pitching of 13-game winner Becky Stroup.

Blue Jay hurler Linda Milnes turned in her best performance of the season in the nightcap, scattering four singles over seven innings and fanning four against no walks. Detweiler and Grey each collected a pair of hits to pace the Etown offense.

The Jays jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Kristy Kordich ripped a one-out double and Detweiler singled home pinch runner Kristie Kulesa three batters later.

The Greyhounds tied the game at one in the seventh inning when Ryan led off with a single, was sacrificed to second and scored on pinch-hitter Ali Harteveld's single up the middle.

In the opener, Alison Parpagene collected two RBI and also scored a run to help Stroup to her conference-best 13th win of the season. The Greyhound lefty allowed only four hits over seven innings while striking out six and walking three.

With the split, Etown and Moravian remain tied with Susquehanna for the second and final MAC Commonwealth League playoff spot at 7-3, one game behind Messiah. The Crusaders and Falcons also split their doubleheader on Wednesday.
