ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SOFTBALL ETOWN FINISHES ONE GAME OUT OF MAC PLAYOFFS AFTER HEARTBREAKING SPLIT WITH SUSQUEHANNA SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Needing a doubleheader sweep to make the MAC playoffs, Elizabethtown could manage only a split with Susquehanna in Commonwealth League action on Saturday, taking game one, 3-2, but falling in the nightcap, 6-0. With the split, the Blue Jays' season came to an end with a record of 17-18 overall and 8-6 in the league, two games behind the Crusaders (24-11, 10-4) for the MAC Commonwealth League's second and final playoff spot. Etown got off on the right foot in game one as Angela Moyer scattered seven hits over seven innings to pick up her team-best sixth victory of the season. Melissa Reinhart led the Etown offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and one run scored. Kristy Nowell added a pair of hits and drove in Vikki Detweiler with a key insurance run in the seventh inning. With a playoff spot in the balance in game two, both teams battled for five and a half scoreless innings before Susquehanna erupted for six runs in the sixth inning to earn a trip to the MAC postseason. Katy Alwine tossed a five-hit shutout and fanned nine to earn her ninth win of the year. Detweiler managed a pair of hits for the Jays in game two. at Selinsgrove, Pa.
