LYCOMING SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER FROM ELIZABETHTOWN, 9-1 AND 8-3

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Nicole Kimble went 3-for-6 with three runs scored and a two-run home run to lead Lycoming to a doubleheader sweep of Elizabethtown in Middle Atlantic Conference non-league action on Tuesday.  The Warriors won the opener, 9-1, and captured game two, 8-3.  With the losses, the Blue Jays fell to 4-5.

Jeanine Evans also collected three hits and a home run while scoring four runs for Lycoming, which remained a perfect 5-0 on the season.  Amelia Demcher went the distance to earn the win in game one while Dara Deitrich scattered eight hits over a complete-game performance in the nightcap to pick up her first victory of the season.

Kelly Spence (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the second game for Etown while Michelle Casserly (Sussex, N.J./High Point Regional) rapped out a pair of hits and scored a run.  Kristy Nowell (Wilmington, De./St. Elizabeth) also added a pair of hits in the losing effort and pitched 4-2/3 solid innings in relief of starter Linda Milnes (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson).

Lycoming jumped on the Blue Jays early in game one, scoring four runs on three hits and three Etown errors.  The Warriors made it 8-0 in the second inning on a home run by Evans, a two-run double from Jennifer Shuler and an RBI single by Natalie Cherry.

Laurie Morris (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) drove in Tara VanEtten (Pittsgrove, N.J./A.P. Schalick) with a double for Etown's lone run in the opener.

In game two, Kimble cracked a monstrous two-run home run as part of a three-run second inning that gave Lycoming a 4-0 lead en route to the win.

Etown returns to action on Thursday, March 25 with a doubleheader at Dickinson College.  Game time is 5 p.m.
