ETOWN LOSES PAIR OF ONE-RUN GAMES AT WIDENER IN MAC COMMONWEALTH LEAGUE OPENER

CHESTER, Pa. --- Widener scored four times in the seventh inning of game two to pick up a 6-5 victory and a doubleheader sweep over Elizabethtown in MAC Commonwealth League action on Saturday.  With the losses, the Blue Jays fell to 4-9 overall and 0-2 in the league.

In the opener, the Pioneers (8-7, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth League) scored twice in the second inning and blanked Etown the rest of the way for a 2-1 win.

Kristy Nowell (Wilmington, De./St. Elizabeth) went 4-for-8 with two RBI and a run scored on the afternoon for Etown.  Kristie Kulesa, Kelly Spence and Melissa Reinhart all collected a pair of hits for the Blue Jays in game two while Emily Marcheski double home a pair of runs.

Etown's Kristin Lezinski went 2-for-3 and scored her team's lone run in the opener.  Linda Milnes took the hard-luck loss in game one, despite allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out nine.
