ETOWN BREAKS SKID WITH DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP OF LEBANON VALLEY; BLUE JAYS EVEN RECORD IN MAC COMMONWEALTH LEAGUE ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Angela Moyer (Telford, Pa./Christopher Dock) tossed a three-hit complete game and Kristy Kordich (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) drilled a two-run triple to help Elizabethtown sweep Lebanon Valley, 4-3 and 3-1, in MAC Commonwealth League action on Wednesday. With the wins, the Blue Jays improved to 6-11 overall and 2-2 in the league. Kristie Kulesa (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley) went 3-for-5 on the day with a double and RBI to key the Etown effort while Linda Milnes (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) allowed only one hit and one unearned run over three innings of relief to earn the win in game one. Angel Galloway went 2-for-3 in the opener with an RBI, double and run scored for Lebanon Valley (1-11, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth League) while Lora Zimmerman added a pair of hits on the afternoon. Jaci Brown and Samantha Rill each turned in solid complete-game performances on the mound for the Flying Dutchmen. With Lebanon Valley leading 2-0, Etown struck for four runs on five hits in the fifth inning of game one to take the lead en route to its first win in the last ten games. Emily Marcheski and Kristin Lezinski led off the frame with singles and moved up on a deep fly ball off the bat of Kordich. Milnes then singled to put the Blue Jays on the board and Kulesa followed a walk to Michelle Casserly (Sussex, N.J./High Point Regional) with an RBI single to knot the game at 2-2. Kelly Spence gave Etown its first lead of the day with a single that plated Milnes and Kristy Nowell's RBI groundout scored Casserly to give the Jays a 4-2 lead. With one out in the seventh inning, Zimmerman singled and scored on a passed ball and error to pull Lebanon Valley within 4-3, but Milnes retired the last two batters to seal the victory. In a game two pitcher's dual that featured only seven hits, Kordich ripped a two-out, two-run triple in the second inning to give Etown a 2-0 advantage and all the runs it would need. Jennifer Zemba doubled ahead of a Spence RBI groundout in the fifth to stretch the Blue Jays' lead to 3-0. Zimmerman reached on an error and scored on Tera Irmen's single in the sixth inning for the Dutchmen's lone run of the game. Moyer, who led Etown with six victories last season, picked up her first win of 1999, allowing only three hits and one unearned run while striking out two over seven innings. Rill allowed only four hits and one earned run while striking out four over six innings in the loss. Etown returns to action on Thursday, April
1 with a doubleheader at Juniata College. Game time is 3 p.m.
