ETOWN RUNS WINNING STREAK TO FOUR WITH DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP AT JUNIATA; BLUE JAYS IMPROVE TO 4-2 IN LEAGUE

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- Kristy Nowell (Wilmington, De./St. Elizabeth) tossed a four-hit shutout and Angela Moyer (Telford, Pa./Christopher Dock) collected her second straight win to help Elizabethtown sweep a doubleheader from Juniata, 2-0 and 5-3, in MAC Commonwealth League action on Tuesday.  With the wins, the Blue Jays improved to 8-11 overall and 4-2 in the MAC Commonwealth League.

Vikki Detweiler, Laurie Morris and Melissa Reinhart each collected three hits on the afternoon for Etown, which has won four straight games.  Juniata's Julie Hoffer went 3-for-6 to lead the Eagles, who fell to 0-12 (0-8 MAC Commonwealth League).

In game one, Nowell allowed only four hits and three walks while striking out three en route to the first shutout of her collegiate career.  The Blue Jays posted the game's only runs in the fifth inning when  Morris doubled and scored on an error and Spence drove in Detweiler with a two-out double to make it 2-0.

In the nightcap, Moyer won her second straight start with some help from reliever Linda Milnes, who worked the final 2-1/3 innings to earn the save.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the fourth inning, Reinhart reached on a one-out double and scored on a single by Jennifer Zemba.  The Blue Jays added to their lead in the fifth inning when Michelle Casserly doubled, advanced to third on a Detweiler sacrifice and scored on an infield error.  Spence then scored on a Nowell single and outfield error to make it 4-1 Etown.

Juniata answered with a single run in their half of the fifth, but Casserly reached on a fielder's choice and scored her second run of the game in the sixth frame to increase the Jays' lead to 5-2.

Moyer allowed two runs on six hits and one walk over 4-2/3 innings to improve to 2-2 on the season.  Milnes surrendered only one hit and one unearned run while fanning four to earn the save.
