ETOWN STAYS HOT WITH DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP OF YORK; MILNES TOSSES COMPLETE GAME AS BLUE JAYS RUN WIN STREAK TO SIX

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Kelly Spence (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) rapped out four hits and Linda Milnes (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) tossed a complete game to help Elizabethtown sweep a doubleheader from York, 4-3 and 6-2, in non-league action on Wednesday.  With the wins, the Blue Jays improved to 10-11 and ran their winning streak to six straight games.

Kristy Nowell (Wilmington, De./St. Elizabeth) added three hits and picked up the win in game one thanks to a sparkling relief effort from Angela Moyer (Telford, Pa./Christopher Dock), who retired all eight batters faced to record her first save of the season.  Michelle Casserly (Sussex, N.J./High Point Regional) collected a pair of hits in the opener while Jennifer Zemba (Library, Pa./South Park) went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in game two.

York's Kourtney Frey drilled a two-run homer in the first game while teammate Julie Sullivan went 2-for-3 with a double and triple in game two.  Sam Miller and Jennifer Kuran each collected three hits on the afternoon as the Spartans fell to 5-7.

In the opener, the Blue Jays jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and held on for the win.  Kristen Lezinski was hit by a pitch to start the Etown first inning and came around to score on an error and a Spence single.  Nowell knocked in Kristie Kulesa with an RBI groundout and Melissa Reinhart plated Spence with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 Blue Jays.

Etown increased the lead to 4-0 in the second inning when Lezinski reached on a two-out error and scored on a single by Kulesa.

Frey pulled York within 4-2 with a two-run home run in the fourth inning and consecutive singles by Kuran, Lisa Pershall and Jeannette Tracy cut the deficit to 4-3 before Nowell worked out of the jam.

The Spartans threatened in the fifth inning with runners on first and second and one out, but Moyer induced back-to-back groundouts to halt the rally, then retired the final six York batters to preserve the Etown win.

In game two, Zemba ripped a two-out, two-run double in the first inning and Etown scored three times without the benefit of an RBI in the fourth to build a 5-0 lead en route to the win and doubleheader sweep.  Milnes was in command on the Etown mound, scattering eight hits while striking out nine against two walks to win her fifth game of the season.  Jessica Robinson (McSherrystown, Pa./Delone Catholic) ripped a sixth-inning triple for the first hit of her collegiate career.

Etown returns to action on Thursday, April 8 with a doubleheader at home against Western Maryland College.  Game time is 3:30 p.m.
