BARKER, ASHTON LEAD FRANKLIN & MARSHALL TO 2-0 WIN OVER ETOWN

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Jenna Ashton went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and Katie Barker tossed a two-hit shutout to lead Franklin & Marshall over Elizabethtown, 2-0, in non-league action on Monday.  With the loss, the Blue Jays fell to 14-15.

Julie Lorenc also collected a pair of hits and one RBI for the Diplomats, who improved to 11-8.  Jessica Robinson (McSherrystown, Pa./Delone Catholic) drilled a double and Christina Yulo added a single -- her first collegiate base hit -- for Etown's only hits of the day.

Angela Moyer took the loss for the Blue Jays despite allowing only two runs and blanking the F&M offense for the game's final five innings.

The Diplomats got the only run they would need in the first inning.  Ashton singled to open the game and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Allison HurleyAshley Kinley followed with a single and Lorenc plated Ashton with the first of her two base hits to make it 1-0 in favor of F&M.

In the second inning, Dianna D'Amico reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Ashton's two-out double.

Robinson drilled a double off the centerfield fence with one out in the fourth inning for Etown, but Barker retired the next two Blue Jays to escape the home team's only threat.

Etown, which fell to 1-6 against Centennial Conference opponents this season, returns to action with a doubleheader at Centennial-leading Muhlenberg College on Wednesday, April 21.  Game time is 5 p.m.
