ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- Shelly Markowitz drove in Jackie Vanderstreet
with an infield single in the bottom of the tenth inning to give Muhlenberg
a 1-0, game-two victory over Elizabethtown and a sweep of their non-league
doubleheader on Wednesday. With the losses, the Blue Jays fell to
14-17 and 1-8 against Centennial Conference opponents this season.
Lori Blanchfield went 3-for-3 with two
runs scored and Heather Dreby tossed a complete game to lead the
Mules to a 9-4 victory in the opener. Angie Tyson allowed
no runs on only three hits and two walks over ten innings in the nightcap
to earn her tenth win of the season.
Kelly Spence (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro)
went 3-for-4 in game one while Angela Moyer (Telford, Pa./Christopher
Dock) knocked in a pair of runs to lead the Etown attack. In
game two, Linda Milnes (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) allowed no
earned runs on six hits while fanning seven over ten innings. She
needs 12 more strikeouts to set the program record for K's in a season
(110).
Etown returns to action on Saturday, April
24 with an MAC Commonwealth League doubleheader at home against Susquehanna
University. Game time is 1 p.m. The Blue Jays need a sweep
of the Crusaders to reach the MAC playoffs for the first time since 1994.
