ETOWN SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH LEBANON VALLEY TO OPEN 2000 CAMPAIGN

ANNVILLE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown opened its 2000 season with a 5-0 loss and a 9-3 win on the road against Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth rival Lebanon Valley.
In the first game, Lebanon Valley's Amy Zellers pitched a complete game shutout, striking out nine in seven innings while giving up only five singles and one walk. Zellers also drove in two runs for Lebanon Valley, as did Jamie Bailey.

In the second game, Elizabethtown came back from a 3-2 deficit after five innings, scoring seven runs in the final two innings to win 9-3. Kristie Kulesa (Steinhope NJ/Lenape Valley Regional) went three for four at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored for Etown. Michelle Casserly (Sussex, NJ/High Point Regional) went three for three at the plate for the Blue Jays, Jessica Robinson (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic) scored two runs, and Kristy Nowell (Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) drove in two while going two for four at the plate.

Elizabethtown (1-1) returns to action Friday, March 17 at the Ferrum Softball Invitational at Salem, VA.
