ETOWN FALLS IN CONFERENCE DOUBLEHEADER TO WIDENER, 7-3 AND 2-1

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA --- Elizabethtown fell to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth with a pair of losses to Widener Tuesday. The Blue Jays lost the first game 7-3 and fell in the second game 2-1.

In the first game, Elizabethtown took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Widener came back to tie the score in the second and never looked back. Jessica Robinson (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic) drove in a team-high two runs for Etown.

Kristie Kulesa (Steinhope, NJ/Lenape Valley) had a strong performance on the mound for Etown in the second game, giving up only four hits and one earned run in a seven inning complete game outing, but could not get the necessary run support to win. The Blue Jays were blanked by Widener pitcher April Ziegler (Delran, NJ/Delran) through the first six innings. Kelly Spence (Glenolden, PA/Interboro) drove in pinch runner Shannon Miller (Glenolden, PA/Interboro) for the Blue Jays' lone run in the bottom of the seventh.

Spence also had a pair of stolen bases in the game for a total of three on the day.

Elizabethtown returns to action at home Saturday against Juniata for a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader. Game time for the first game is set for 1:00 p.m.
