ETOWN SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH KEAN, FALLS 5-0 AND WINS 8-1

UNION, N.J. --- Elizabethtown won its first game of the season by splitting a doubleheader with Kean University Tuesday. The Blue Jays lost the first game 5-0, but Etown's offense exploded in the second game to win, 8-1. Etown's record now stands at 1-5 overall, while Kean drops to 5-3 overall.

Elizabethtown was held to five hits in the first game by Kean pitcher Nicole Patterson.

In the second game, Etown's bats, which had been held to only one run in five games, awoke to pound out nine hits and score eight runs. Catcher Melissa Reinhart (Bernville, PA/Hamburg) batted two for three with a double and two RBI for the Blue Jays. Jessica Robinson (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic) batted two for three with a run scored, and freshman Emily Morris (Canton, PA/Canton) scored three runs for Etown while batting one for three with a stolen base.

Etown pitcher Vicki Andrel (Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby) allowed only four hits and one run in a six-inning complete game outing with four strikeouts for her first collegiate victory.

Elizabethtown returns to action for a road doubleheader against Franklin and Marshall Thursday, March 22. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
