ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SOFTBALL
Tuesday, March 8, 2005

EElizabethtown Falls to NAIA Member Malone College and NCAA Division II West Chester University in Orlando, Fla.

ORLANDO, Fla. --- Through a tough schedule thus far of five games in three days in Orlando Fla., with four games against NAIA schools and one game against an NCAA Division II school, Elizabethtown College's softball team now has an 0-5 mark. The Blue Jays were most recently swept in a doubleheader by NAIA Malone College 4-0 and 1-0 Monday, and they were defeated by NCAA Division II West Chester University 10-0 Tuesday morning.

In the first game against Malone, Kelly Johnson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) batted 1-for-2 for Etown, and Diana Aria (Philadelphia, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) hit 1-for-3. In the second game against Malone, Etown first-year student Alex Lee (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) wound up on the short end of a pitchers' duel as she threw a complete game and allowed just one run. Six Etown batters hit 1-for-3 in that game, but the Blue Jays were not able to get a run to cross the plate in support of Lee.

Against West Chester Tuesday, Etown first-year student Abbie Merrifield (York, PA/Dallastown) batted 1-for-2.
Complete box scores for Etown's games will not be available until after the team arrives home from Florida.

Etown will return to action for its final games in Orlando Friday, March 11 in a doubleheader against NAIA member Pikeville College at 9:00 a.m.
