Elizabethtown Falls to Gettysburg in First Game of Doubleheader, Ties Bullets in Nightcap

GETTYSBURG, Pa. --- Elizabethtown fell on the road to Gettysburg 13-3 in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday and tied the host Bullets 6-6 in the second game, which ended as darkness fell. Etown is now 0-8-1 overall in 2005, while Gettysburg is 1-0-1.

In the first game, Kelly Johnson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) hit 2-for-3 with a double and three runs batted in. Diana Aria (Philadelphia, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) also hit 2-for-3 in the first game and scored one run. Megan Balmer (Manheim, PA/Manheim) batted 1-for-3 with a run scored for the Blue Jays.

In the second game, Balmer batted 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, one run scored and a stolen base. Jessica Russ (Media, PA/Penncrest) batted 2-for-3 for Etown, and Johnson hit 1-for-2 with one RBI and two walks.

Etown will return to action on the road Saturday, March 19 at Susquehanna University in its first Commonwealth Conference doubleheader of the season. Start time is 1:00 p.m.
