ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SOFTBALL Lebanon Valley Sweeps Elizabethtown 7-0 and 8-7 in Commonwealth Conference Doubleheader ANNVILLE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 5-11 overall and 0-5 in the Commonwealth Conference following a pair of road losses to Lebanon Valley College Saturday. Lebanon Valley, which improves to 17-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference with the wins, won the first game 7-0 and the second game 8-7. In the first game, Lebanon Valley pitcher Jenn Roberts threw a no-hitter as she struck out eight batters. In the second game, Etown scored seven runs in the top of the third inning to take a 7-0 lead, only to see Lebanon Valley chip away at that lead each time it came to bat. LVC scored two runs in the bottom of the third, three runs in the bottom of the fourth, one run in the bottom of the fifth and two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Kelli Thon (Victor, NY/Victor Central) batted 3-for-4 with one run for Etown in the second game. Lauren Dressler (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita) hit 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run and two RBI for the Blue Jays, and Melissa Keeler (Hazleton, PA/Bishop Hafey) hit 2-for-3 with one double and two RBI. Lauren Hoover (Reading, PA/Oley Valley) batted 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, and Tanya Konek (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI for Etown. Kelly Johnson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) hit 1-for-4 with one RBI, and Marian Guzik (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield Area) hit 1-for-3 with one run. Elizabethtown will return to action at home Monday, April 3 when it hosts a single game at 4:00 p.m. against Albright in the makeup of a game that could not be completed before darkness March 14. |
