MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --- The Elizabethtown College softball team suffered a pair of losses in action on Tuesday morning, falling 6-1 to Villa Julie College and 6-3 to Neumann College.

Against Villa Julie, the Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by first-year student Kelsea Corrado (LaPlata, MD/LaPlata), but were shut down the rest of the way as Elizabethtown finished with five hits off Mustang pitcher Sarah Moelter, who struck out five to get the win.

Corrado and junior Amanda Gordon (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) each went 2-for-3 for the Blue Jays, while Jessica O'Neill finished 2-for-3 with a run batted in for the Mustangs (3-2 overall).

First-year student Lisa Malehorn (Halifax, PA/Halifax) saw her record even at 1-1 after allowing nine hits and two earned runs while striking out one in a complete-game effort for the Blue Jays.

Against Neumann, the Blue Jays (2-2 overall) trailed 6-0 after five innings, but tallied once in the sixth and twice in the seventh in a last-ditch rally against the Knights.

Senior Abbie Merrifield (York, PA/Dallastown) went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored for Elizabethtown, which finished with five hits off Neumann starter Angela Sebasto, who whiffed nine in the victory.

Danielle Hayes led the Knights by going 3-for-3 with four runs batted in, while Caitlin Hanrahan finished 2-for-3 and scored twice as Neumann scored twice in the second, third and fifth innings.

Senior Alex Lee (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) fell to 1-1 after yielding seven hits and five earned runs in six innings of work for the Blue Jays, striking out seven.
