ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SOFTBALL Moravian Takes Doubleheader from Elizabethtown Click here for the game one boxscore ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Maria DeBonis and Elizabeth Python tossed complete-game shutouts as Moravian College defeated Elizabethtown College 3-0 and 6-0 in non-conference softball action on Tuesday afternoon. In game one, Erica Klepeisz went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two runs batted in while DeBonis pitched a five-hitter and struck out 11 as the Greyhounds won 3-0. Klepeisz poked a two-out double in the third to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead, then added an RBI triple in the sixth to extend the Moravian advantage to 2-0. Jennifer Schmitt added a pinch-single to push the Greyhound lead to 3-0 in the sixth. The Blue Jays rallied in the seventh with back-to-back singles, but Klepeisz threw out a runner at the plate following another single to end the contest. First-year student Kelsea Corrado (LaPlata, MD/LaPlata) went 2-for-3 for the Blue Jays, while Amanda Paulus finished 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Greyhounds. DeBonis (4-3) fanned 11 and walked just one in tossing her third shutout of the season, while senior Alex Lee (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) fell to 4-4 after yielding eight hits and two earned runs while striking out four for the Blue Jays. In game two, Python allowed just a pair of fourth-inning hits and fanned three to improve to 5-2 on the season, while Beth Paly went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in as part of a 13-hit attack by the Greyhounds (9-5 overall). Klepeisz finished 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored, while Katie Agnew went 2-for-3 for Moravian, which scored in each of the first three innings to take a 4-0 lead. Moravian scored twice in the first on a throwing error and an RBI double by Paly, and tacked on runs in the second on an RBI double by Agnew and an RBI single by Schmitt to move ahead 4-0. The Greyhounds scored twice more in the sixth on an RBI triple by Klepeisz and an RBI single from Paly. First-year student Lisa Malehorn (Halifax, PA/Halifax) fell to 1-4 for the Blue Jays (5-8 overall) after allowing five hits and three runs in 1 1/3 innings. Lee relieved in the second and gave up one earned run on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings while fanning eight. She is one strikeout away from equaling the program career record of 404 whiffs set by Michelle Morris from 2001 to 2004, and is 1/3 inning short of tying Morris' school record of 502 2/3 innings pitched.
