ETOWN DEFEATS URSINUS, MEN WIN 81-64, WOMEN WIN 104-70

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown's men's swimming team improved to 2-8 overall with an 81-64 win over Ursinus at home Tuesday, and the women's team improved to 4-8 with a 104-70 win over Ursinus.

On the men's side, Paul Contino (Flourtown, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) took first place in the 1000 freestyle in 11:12.51. Casey Moore (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) had a pair of individual wins in the 200 freestyle (1:47.17) and the 500 freestyle (4:57.23). His 500 freestyle time shattered the previous team season low time in the event by 20 seconds. Moore also became the first Elizabethtown swimmer to break the five minute barrier in the 500 yard freestyle in eight years. Scott English (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) also had a pair of first place finishes, taking the 50 freestyle in 23.00 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 51.24 seconds.

In the women's events, a pair of Etown season best times fell as Stacey Benton (Duncansville, PA/Hollidaysburg) won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.43 and Christina Blaha (Killingsworth, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) captured the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.92. Blaha also won the 200 individual medley in 2:27.45.

Also winning a pair of events were Lindsay Texter (Lititz, PA/Warwick) and Sarah Bradley (Mt. Pleasant, PA/Mt. Pleasant). Texter won the 200 freestyle in 2:05.15 and the 500 freestyle in 5:36.23. Bradley took the 50 freestyle in 26.12 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 57.83 seconds. Brooke Knepper (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport) won the 1000 freestyle for Etown in 11:30.30.

Etown returns to action at home against Middle Atlantic Conference rival Susquehanna Saturday, January 27. Meet time is 1:00 p.m.
