WIDENER DEFEATS ETOWN, WOMEN FALL 102-98, MEN DEFEATED 99-63

CHESTER, Pa. --- Elizabethtown’s men’s and women’s swimming teams lost on the road to Widener Tuesday night, with the women losing 102-98, and the men falling 99-63 to the Pioneers.

In the women’s events, Widener leapt out to a 102-67 lead before running exhibitions in the final two events. Sarah Bradley (Mt. Pleasant, PA/Mt. Pleasant) won the 50 freestyle for Etown in 26.24 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 57.37 seconds. Lindsay Texter (Lititz, PA/Warwick) won the 200 individual medley in 2:18.90 and the 500 freestyle in 5:27.01 for the Blue Jays. Christina Blaha (Killingsworth, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) captured the 100 breaststroke for Etown in 1:11.88.

Casey Moore (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) won a pair of solo men’s events for Etown with first place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:45.89) and the 100 freestyle (48.60). Etown’s only other men’s event winner was Paul Contino (Flourtown, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh), who captured the 200 individual medley in 2:08.32. Widener swam exhibition entries in the final three events.

Etown will return to action at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, hosted this year by Scranton, February 16-18.
