Etown’s Casey Moore Named Top Male Swimmer at MAC Championships,
Christina Blaha and Holly Gish Pick up Additonal Medals, as Etown Men
and Women Finish Sixth

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- For the second time in three years, Elizabethtown College junior Casey Moore (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) has earned the
David B. Eavenson Award as the top male swimmer at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. Moore won the gold medal in every individual event he entered, broke one Etown program record, one MAC Championship record, and met the provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming Championships in one event, as the Etown men finished
sixth out of nine teams with a final score of 116.5. The Etown women finished sixth out of 11 teams with a final score of 170 at the three day event.

Sunday's events were cut short due to the impending snowstorm in Selinsgrove. While there was supposed to be a round of preliminaries in the morning and afternoon and a round of finals in the evening, the preliminaries were skipped.

On Sunday, Moore tied for the gold medal in the 100 yard freestyle with Albright’s Billy Ruth with a time of 47.99 seconds to pick up his third gold medal of the 2003 MAC Championships. Over the course of three years of participation at the MAC Championships, Moore
has now entered a total of nine individual races and won the gold medal in all nine of them.

Also on Sunday, Holly Gish (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) took home her second individual medal and third medal overall of the 2003 MAC Championships, capturing the silver in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:16.76. Christina Blaha (Killingworth, CT/Haddam Killingworth) also picked up her second individual and third overall medal for Etown, taking bronze in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:31.36.

On Saturday, Moore won the conference gold medal in the men's 200 yard freestyle Saturday with a final time of 1:43.56, which met the NCAA Division III Championship provisional qualifying standard in the event of 1:43.69. His preliminary time in the 200 freestyle Saturday was
1:43.95.

Also Saturday, Blaha captured the bronze medal in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:09.12, topping her preliminary time of 1:10.74. Gish took the bronze medal in the women’s 100 yard backstroke with a final time of 1:02.58. Her preliminary time was 1:02.67.

Also taking a bronze medal for the Etown women Saturday was the 200 yard medley relay team of Stacey Benton (Duncansville, PA/Hollidaysburg), Blaha, Gish and Kristen Kuc (Camp Hill, PA/Trinity). The four combined for a time of 1:57.69.

Highlighting Friday's performances, Moore broke both the Elizabethtown and MAC Championship records in the men's 200 yard individual medley, posting a final time of 1:57.93 and a preliminary time of 1:59.91 en route to winning a gold medal.
