ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Etown Sweeps MAC Rival Lebanon Valley, Men Win 88-61, Women Win 106-92 ANNVILLE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown's men's and women's swimming teams picked up their first wins of the 2002-03 season by sinking Lebanon Valley on the road Tuesday night. The Etown men won 88-61, and the Etown women won 106-92 over the Middle Atlantic Conference rival Flying Dutchmen. The Etown men are now 1-3 overall and the Etown women are 1-4 overall in dual meets. The Blue Jays seemed at home in Lebanon Valley's metric pool, as the Etown women won all but one non-exhibition race of the meet, and the Etown men won all but two non-exhibition events. Holly Gish (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) won a pair of events for the Etown women, capturing the 200 meter individual medley in 2:40.29 and winning the 100m freestyle in 1:04.86. Joanna Hyde (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland) won the 800m freestyle in 10:26.15, and Catherine Schadler (Souderton, PA/Lansdale Catholic) won the 200m freestyle in 2:27.21. Tara Sadak (West Hazleton, PA/Hazleton) won the 50m freestyle in 29.98 for Etown, and Cynthia Ippolito (Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan) won the 100 butterfly in 1:16.82. Freshman Stacey Limbach (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) won the 400m freestyle in 5:00.98, and Kathryn Fairman (Turbotville, PA/Warrior Run) actually had the lowest time in the 100m breaststroke with 1:22.84, but swam the event as an exhibition. In the 200m medley relay, Ippolito and Sadak teamed with Elizabeth Martin (Springfield, PA/Springfield) and Cristen Cumor (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) to win the event in 2:19.47. Although Etown swam as an exhibition in the 200m freestyle relay at the close of the meet, the Blue Jays' team of Gish, Sadak, Stacey Benton (Duncansville, PA/Hollidaysburg) and Kristen Kuc (Camp Hill, PA/Trinity) had the lowest time in the race with 2:02.47. In the men's events, Scott English (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) won both the 200m freestyle and the 100m freestyle with respective times of 2:14.03 and 57.69. Junior Casey Moore (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson), swimming in his first meet of the season, won both the 200m individual medley and the 400m freestyle with times of 2:24.12 and 4:49.58, respectively. Freshman Ryan Loesser (Yardville, PA) won the 50m freestyle for Etown in 27.14, and Timothy Matlack (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross) won the 100m butterfly in 1:12.61. Jason Pino (Broomall, PA/Marple Newton) won the 100m backstroke in 1:15.46 for the Blue Jays. Etown's team of Pino, Matlack, Brian Thudium (Harleysville, PA), and Tom Vaughn (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) won the 200m medley relay in 2:10.64. Although Etown swam as an exhibition team in the 200m freestyle relay at the end of the meet, Pino, Vaughn, English and Moore combined for the lowest time in the event in 1:47.44.
