ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Etown Swimmers Sweep Penn State-Altoona; Blue Jay Men Get First Win of Season ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College's men's and women's swimming teams swept Penn State-Altoona at home Wednesday night, with the Blue Jay men winning their first meet of the season 74-54 to improve to 1-9, while the Etown women won 102-79 to improve to 5-6 on the season. The Blue Jay women were up 102-59 before they swam exhibition entries rather than competing for points in the final two events. On the men's side, Brian Thudium (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:56.29, a new team season-best mark by 0.03 of a second. Tim Matlack (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross) won the 200 yard butterfly in 2:35.65, and Geoff Betz (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) won the 100 yard freestyle in 56.66 seconds. Jason Pino (Broomall, PA/Marple Newton) won the 200 yard backstroke for Etown in 2:24.72, and Thudium took the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:47.77. Also, the 200 yard medley relay team of Pino, Thudium, Matlack and Betz won in 1:57.36. Keeley Trumbo (Jeffersonville, PA/Great Valley) won both the 200 yard freestyle in 2:07.10 and the 200 yard butterfly in 2:23.80 for the Etown women. Her 200 butterfly time was a new team season-best. Kristen Kuc (Camp Hill, PA/Trinity) took the 50 yard freestyle for Etown in 27.22 seconds, and Jodie Bachman (Turnersville, NJ/Washingtown Twp.) won the 200 yard individual medley in 2:31.55. Stacey Limbach (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:52.50, and the 200 yard medley relay team of Liz Martin (Springfield, PA/Springfield), Christina Blaha (Killingworth, CT/Haddam-Killingworth), Trumbo and Kuc won its event in 2:01.47. The Elizabethtown College women's swimming team will return to action at home Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. as the host of Juniata College.
