ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE SWIMMING Scranton Downs Etown Swimming, Women Fall 110-87, Men Fall 104-51 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College's women's swimming team dropped to 6-9 in dual meets in 2003-04, and the Blue Jay men's swimming team fell to 1-12 in dual meets as Etown fell to the University of Scranton at home Saturday afternoon. Scranton won the women's meet 110-87, and the visiting Royals took the men's meet 104-51. The lone individual event winner for the Etown women was senior Christina Blaha (Killingworth, CT/Haddam-Killingworth), who captured the 200 yard breaststroke in a team season-best time of 2:32.37, beating the closest Scranton finisher by over four and a half seconds. Although no Blue Jay men won individual events, sophomore Brian Thudium (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) set a new program season-best time in the 200 yard freestyle, placing second in 1:55.71, as well as in the 100 yard freestyle with another second place finish of 53.17 seconds. Timothy Matlack (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross) set a new personal and team season-best time in the 200 yard butterfly with a second place finish in 2:32.28, and Jason Rose (Ft. Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) set a new team season best in the 200 yard backstroke by finishing second in 2:18.18. Etown will return to action at home Tuesday, February 3 at 6:00 p.m. against Middle Atlantic Conference rival Widener. It will be the Blue Jays' final dual meet of the 2003-04 season, before the MAC Championships begin February 13. At Elizabethtown, Pa. Men's Score: Scranton 110, Elizabethtown 51
