Elizabethtown Women Defeat Lebanon Valley, 101-91, Etown Men Fall to LVC, 88-72

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College swimming teams split a meet against Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League rival Lebanon Valley Tuesday night at Etown's Alumni Pool. The Etown women defeated Lebanon Valley 101-91, while a total of just six Blue Jay men fell to a Lebanon Valley team with 11 swimmers by just 16 points, 88-72.

Joanna Hyde (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland) scored nine points for the Blue Jays by winning the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:58.71. Had the Blue Jays not swum as exhibition contestants in the 500 yard freestyle, Hyde would have won that event as well in 5:49.41. Keeley Trumbo (Jeffersonville, PA/Great Valley) won the 200 yard freestyle in 2:07.45 and the 100 yard butterfly in 1:03.11 for the Blue Jays, and Kristen Kuc (Camp Hill, PA/Trinity) won the 50 yard freestyle in 26.85 and the 100 yard freestyle in 59.88. Stacey Limbach (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) won the 200 yard individual medley in 2:28.88 for Etown as well.

In the 100 yard backstroke, Etown also swam as exhibition competitors once a Blue Jay victory in the meet was assured. Had Etown been swimming for points then, Nicole Welch (Dansville, NY/Dansville) would have won 1:07.41. The same case applied in the 100 yard breaststroke, where Etown's Christina Blaha (Killingworth, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) would have won in 1:12.44 had Etown been competing for points at that point in the meet.

Etown also won the 200 yard medley relay in 2:02.46 as the team of Liz Martin (Springfield, PA/Springfield), Blaha, Trumbo and Welch combined to win. The exhibition team of Welch, Tatianna Roll (North Plainfield, NJ/Immaculata), Mariah Manning (Richboro, PA/Council Rock) and Cindy Ippolito (Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan) would have won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:54.76 had Etown been competing for points at the end of the meet as well.

In the men's events, Brian Thudium (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) won the 200 yard freestyle for Etown in 1:57.17, and Jason Rose (Ft. Washington, PA/Upper Dublin) won both the 100 yard backstroke in 1:04.90 and the 200 yard individual medley in 2:15.00. Etown's 200 yard medley relay team of Jason Pino (Broomall, PA/Marple Newton), Thudium, Rose and Geoff Betz (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) teamed up to win in 1:53.05.

Etown will return to action Tuesday, December 2 as the host of McDaniel College in a 6:00 p.m. meet.
