Elizabethtown Men's & Women's Swimming Teams Finish Sixth in MAC Championships

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's and women's swimming teams both finished in sixth place in the three-day long Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, held from February 11 to February 13 at the Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The Etown men placed sixth out of 10 teams with 223 points, and the Etown women finished sixth out of 11 teams with 243 points.

Holly Gish (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) became Etown's first medalist on the women's side Friday night as she swam a final time of 2:16.82 in the 200 individual medley to place third in the conference.

Saturday night, Keeley Trumbo (Jeffersonville, PA/Great Valley) became Etown's second medalist, taking third place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.37.

Trumbo picked up another bronze medal Sunday night in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.93.

Although Trumbo and Gish were the only medalists placing in the top three in their events, a total of seven Etown women earned Second Team All-MAC honors by placing anywhere from fourth through sixth in their respective events. They were Gish, Trumbo, Molly Campbell (Mountville, PA/Lancaster Catholic), Kristen Kuc (Camp Hill, PA/Trinity), Cindy Ippolito (Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan), Lindsay Kollmeier (Sewell, NJ/Ursuline Academy, DE) and Laura Kubica (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury).

On the men's side, seven Blue Jays earned Second Team All-MAC honors, including Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep.), Geoff Betz (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), Jason Rose (Ft. Washington, PA/Upper Dublin), Kevin O'Hara (Collegeville, PA), Daniel McGuigan (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville), Brian Thudium (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) and Tim Matlack (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross).
