McDaniel Sweeps Etown, 120-84 (Women), 114-68 (Men); Keeley Trumbo Wins Three Times for Blue Jays

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- McDaniel swept Elizabethtown 114-68 in the men’s events and 120-84 in the women’s events in a dual meet hosted by Etown Tuesday night. The Blue Jays did post several individual event wins, with Keeley Trumbo (Chester Springs, PA/Great Valley) winning three events and Darren DiObilda (Coatesville, PA/Malvern Prep.) winning two events for Etown.

The Etown women opened the meet with a win in the 400 yard medley relay as the team of Rachel Halton (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus), Gretchen Geiger (Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown), Trumbo and Jenny Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) won in 4:22.43.

The Blue Jays followed with a win in the men’s 400 yard medley relay as the team of Jason Rose (Ft. Washington, PA/Upper Dublin), Daniel McGuigan (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville), DiObilda and Brian Thudium (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) won in 4:20.83.

Trumbo went on to add two individual event wins, taking the 200 yard freestyle in 2:08.58 and the 200 yard butterfly in 2:23.36. DiObilda later won the men’s 200 yard butterfly in 2:19.05.

The Elizabethtown women’s swimming team will return to action Saturday, January 21 when it hosts Juniata College in a 1:00 p.m. meet. Juniata does not have a men’s swimming team, so the Etown men will not compete then. Both teams will be back in action Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. when the Blue Jay men and women host the University of Scranton.
